Many preschool teachers don't know whether or not they have sufficient savings. Today, up to 50% of educators actually save less than what is recommended. PBU, the pension fund of early childhood teachers, therefore had to be more readily available and approachable so that members could more easily understand their retirement situation and have better access to save more.
PBU's mobile app 'Better Pension' literally gives members a glimpse into their own future. In addition to providing an easy overview of a member's savings, a special AI-feature was developed to break down barriers, bringing retirement age into the present by having members see "themselves" as a 67 year old first thing when using the app. With a high curiosity factor, we could thus pique the interest of PBU members to get started using the app – and to share a fun experience with colleagues. If PBU sees that their pension figures are below the recommended level, members are encouraged to take a savings check and are provided a direct path from there into PBU Extra, where they can opt to set aside an additional amount of their income to their savings plan.
The PBU app has performed exceptionally. The "nudging" through the AI-aging feature worked beyond expectations and just six months after the launch, 17% of the contributing member base had already downloaded the app.
